Seven Years in Tibet

I've been so behind with my Netflix movie reviews,.... :-p

Synopsys from Netflix:
Austrian mountaineer Heinrich Harrer (Brad Pitt) journeys to the Himalayas without his family to head an expedition in 1939. When World War II breaks out, the arrogant Harrer falls into Allied forces' hands as a prisoner of war. He escapes with a fellow detainee and makes his way to Llaso, Tibet, where he meets the 14-year-old Dalai Lama (Jamyang Jamtsho Wangchuk) -- whose friendship ultimately transforms the self-seeking Harrer.

My take:
The only thing I do not like about this movie is the fact that they use English so much. Of course, everybody doesn't seem to like reading subtitles but in my case, I value authenticity more than commerciality. Look at Passion of The Christ, it was delivered in Aramaic, Latin and I forgot what was the other language and it worked very very well. I'd really like it if this movie is in its native German and Tibetan..... I just find it hard that Tibetan people in the 40's speak Queen's English...... and as I later found out from news articles, Harrer actually spoke colloquial Tibetan during his stay in Tibet.
Putting that aside, it is a very moving film. For me at least. You can't help but feel sympathetic towards Tibet. I myself have had a little bit of curiousity with Tibet but never had a time to do any good research (unless Google counts) I think this movie opened the door for me.....
